Young Women Leadership Retreat
DESCRIPTION
Young Women Leadership Retreat is an opportunity to equip young women specifically to participate in different foras and also impart them with assertiveness skills.
Capacity building of young women with relevant skills such as Gender, Feminism, Confidence Building, Women’s Rights, Spirituality and Values as well as leadership, HIV, AIDS and Sexuality will in turn create an informed young women leadership base.
OBJECTIVES
- To capacitate young women with leadership and assertiveness skills
- To enable young women to be responsible role models in terms of moral behaviour, leadership and self-esteem
- To enhance the capacity of young women to stand up for their rights and responsibilities in their organisations and communities
- To enable young women to play a leading role in transforming their organisations
- To create a leadership base for young women in Zimbabwe
RESULTS ACHIEVED
Participants who have attended the retreat in the past 3 years have emphasized the importance translate knowledge from the workshop to change their communities as they mentioned that human and women’s rights need to be addressed even at family level because that is where oppression begins.
Also, some felt that there is need participants to share facts from workshop with parents and friends and also look at ways for introducing the feminist concept to their peers and spread it to all females.
Results achieved
