DESCRIPTION
The strengthening youth organisations through capacity building is a huge responsibility, therefore YETT facilitates a think tank platform on key capacity building issues so as to provide opportunities for proactive actions as well as timely interventions to its partner organisations. Capacity building is provided on the basis of the themes highlighted in the YETT strategy.
OBJECTIVES
This is aimed at increase awareness among partner organizations and to provide opportunities for proactive actions as well as timely interventions so as to strengthen their capacity to contribute to national development.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
Partner organizations under the YETT Youth Fund (YYF) have received training to enhance the grant management abilities for program and finance officers.
In addition, board members in youth organizations are constantly faced with a lot of governance challenges therefore directors, treasurers and chairpersons from each of YYF organisation were afforded an opportunity to highlight common governance problems and deliberate on ways of dealing with governance challenges.
In 2011 the YETT Youth Fund team carried out needs assessments for all the fourteen sub grantees to identify areas of technical support.
The following were identified as some of the areas of technical support for sub grantees - governance, reporting and financial management. The needs assessments resulted in the creation of operating synergies between YETT and the sub grantees.
Also, this year, YETT has undertaken a training need with the view of developing a training and development strategy that will fit into the organization’s requirements.
